when the taking tree formed in 1997, they weren't called the taking tree. they weren't even a band. they were a squad of rogue fighters determined to save the human race from the forces of evil.

ryan, reggie, and corey fought demons every day. not just demons from the netherworld, but also inner demons. one day, corey was faced with the biggest inner demon of all--what to do with his young adulthood. he decided to go to college and sort out his problem, leaving reggie and ryan in complete shambles. ryan began abusing food. reggie found himself drowning in pools and pools of porn. no longer could they fight to save humanity. they had to save themselves.

they formed a band called dick blick, and for a while, all was right. it was not to last, however, for after a series of letters between dick blick the band and the art supplies company called dick blick, dick blick the band was forced to change their name. also, reggie was seduced and eventually eaten by a herd of bears.

determined not to let the rest of the human race fall into the bear's whimsical trap, ryan found andrew, and bert, and cj, brave new freedom fighters who were allergic to bear fur. luckily enough, they also happened to be good musicians.

today, the taking tree resides in bozeman, montana, where they prepare for armagedon and play music in their spare time. when the moment comes, they will fight.

they will fight. and they will win.
